Well howdy do. Finally have my work in progress finished. Glad that it is over with, but disappointed that I couldn't figure out how to do make that brown area look like ground. (In other words a cave floor scattered with bits of broken rock is what I would be going for) This is just Kido, probably when she is about 22 or so. And she is having a dream about her past. Hopefully you all get the idea that she is sleeping and not having a very good time of it. So yes, this is my first attempt at a comic page. It should be read from left to right, not that there is actually anything to read on this first page, But whatever. Please critique away at my terrible attempt.
This is...good. Especially for a first try. So far, I really like it. Also, I can tell that this is definitely better than some of your more recent stuff .... >.>
Well, let's see. I'll start with panel one. It's a great start, and after skimming through it, I could tell it was her eye. (of course, it was just a skim, if I took the time, I'd notice lol) I like the typical closes, especially ones like that. Eyes = prize
The leg movement was ridiculously accurate (I smiled) and the shadow effect on the first paw panel was a good style, using the light to illustrate her ankle(?) Although... if the third panel is the same paw, the ankle had disappeared. It's okay because some great artists overlook that kind of stuff all the time. But that was just me being mean
The big shot panel is cool, no doubt about it. I only have a few things that I can really think of. The neck is kind of long, I'm not sure if that really matters because it could be the character design, I'm just trying to be "practical". And another less important one, there could be more fur design on her back half, but again, that could be from the character design. Right? The muzzle was a great job, but there needed to be more showing where the head formed from the neck, like a line or some fur design from the side jaws (it's hard to explain sometimes, but I'm sure you'll get it, if not just ask me later today and I'll show you)
Everything else is great, I love it! (Mindless comment time)
This is great, Yaro! I'm so glad that you might be doing a comic now!!
The anotomy is quite good here, but I would suggest shading with a warm, dusty color, instead of grey. The grey looks a little dull, but the shading does follow the anatomy well.
Yeah it is something of an experiment at the moment.
And thank you for the suggestion of a different colored brush. I like the idea and never even thought of it before. So maybe a brush that is kind of a lighter brown or sandy yellow type thing is what you were getting at?
